Facial Rejuvenation and Contouring acupuncture also referred to as Cosmetic acupuncture, is acupuncture that focuses specifically on an aesthetic condition of the patient, usually concerning the face.

Like traditional acupuncture, it involves strategically inserting sterilized needles into different areas of the skin with the aim of stimulating blood flow and balancing the body's Qi (which, when translated, means "vital energy" in Traditional Chinese Medicine).

Does your anti-aging regimen also improve your overall health and wellbeing? Facial rejuvenation and Contouring acupuncture is a whole body treatment that helps with stress, digestion and sleep so you will look better in part because you will feel better.

Facial rejuvenation acupuncture is specifically designed to improve facial appearance by reducing lines and wrinkles, improving facial muscle tone, and rejuvenating dull, lifeless, or aging skin.

Through the stimulation of points on the face, natural collagen and elastin production is built up. This leaves the face more supple and smooth, while minimizing lines, wrinkles and other signs of aging. Facial rejuvenation acupuncture can also be used to treat acne, rosacea, and dark circles under the eyes.

During the intake your practitioner will ask you about your concerns and goals for your treatment.

They will then ask targeted questions such as digestion, menstruation, sleep, energy levels, and diet to get a better sense of how your current physical and mental state is affecting your complexion.

In traditional Chinese medicine theory, like some other body parts, face complexion is also the exterior manifestation of interior health, you never look your best when you are feeling unwell. The key to facial rejuvenation acupuncture is to focus on both your overall health and reduce the facial conditions that has already formed, such as facial sagging, lines and winkles etc.

Acupuncture

Once your TCM pattern has been determined, the acupuncturist will develop a treatment plan, mapping out where on the face and body the needles will be inserted and stay in place until removed- in about 30-60 minutes.

Most patients see differences after 1-2 treatments.

Facial Rejuvenation acupuncture leaves you looking and feeling your best.

How many treatments are needed?

Visible results can be seen after the first couple treatments. Dramatic and long lasting changes generally occur with a series of 5-10 sessions. We recommend beginning with acupuncture facial treatments once a week.
For body contouring acupuncture, such as Abdominal Slimming and Leg Slimming, once every 10 days is recommended.

Who is cosmetic acupuncture for?

Anyone who wants a functional and holistic approach to health and beauty is a candidate. Those with Botox or filler should wait at least two weeks after injection before seeking this kind of treatment, and Dr. Liu says this waiting period allows for swelling from procedures to reduce  and Botox to fully kick in.

What are the possible benefits of cosmetic acupuncture?

Improved Collagen Production

Facial acupuncture is hypothesized to stimulate lymphatic drainage, and, therefore, increase blood flow to the face. This will support collagen production, which can help reduce fine lines and wrinkles.

Reduced Acne

Acne-prone skin types looking to supplement their over-the-counter balms and creams might want to consider facial acupuncture. While not scientifically proven to treat any skin condition. There are anecdotal reports that it has helped bouts of acne. By encouraging lymphatic drainage, it may be aiding in the elimination of toxins that may contribute to breakouts.

Applying needles directly to specific acupuncture points helps to improve blood circulation, and this can stimulate an immune response that can also reduce inflammation.

What are the potential side effects of cosmetic acupuncture?

Temporary worsening of symptoms, soreness, bruising, muscle twitching, and minor bleeding at needle sites are possible short-term side effects. Remedying these side effects might include removal of the needles and/or applying direct pressure to bleeding areas (during the session).

Cosmetic acupuncture is sometimes referred to as a "natural alternative" to Botox, but they work quite differently on the skin. Unlike Botox, which temporarily paralyzes muscles to reduce wrinkles, cosmetic acupuncture promotes blood circulation and may stimulate collagen production, giving the skin a plump, youthful appearance and reducing fine lines.

While Botox prevents muscle contraction, cosmetic acupuncture revitalizes the skin naturally, helping to restore collagen levels closer to what they were 5-30 years ago, leaving the face looking youthful yet full of life. Typically, cosmetic acupuncture is done in a series of 4-8 treatments, as the effects are cumulative. Follow-up sessions are recommended to maintain and extend the results.
